ABOUT US
The original vision of the founders was to build a cluster of five homes, each housing
eight children and their houseparent's. The goal
was to provide all the stabilizing elements of a traditional family for children who were in need of a place to call home. The Covenant
Children's Home Board of Directors has remained faithful to this vision, and today we are able to
offer kind, compassionate, caring, and creative teamwork that promotes the emotional, mental
and physical wellbeing of each child. Our workers are dedicated to keeping children safe,
healthy and better prepared for the future. The overall goal of protection and healing of these
young children is paramount in what we do. The children in our home are given the opportunity
to engage with positive and caring adults and we are able to give them hope for a brighter future.
SERVICE COORDINATION WITH REFERRING AGENCIES
CCH works with multiple agencies to insure quality care while in our home. In an effort to meet the needs of these youth, many agencies participate in providing each child with the services they need to work through this transitional time in their life. The services we provide not only help the children we serve while staying at CCH, but also provide support to families after a child returns home. We offer information and referrals to families seeking parenting classes, counseling, educational programs, as well as other needs and opportunities to families so we can continue to respond effectively to the ever-changing needs in our community. If you are a child or parent who is in need or seeking assistance, or you may know of a family who is hurting, please feel free to contact us.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Our team works directly with Covenant Christian Academy (CCA) for those youth experiencing educational issues that impact their ability to succeed in a public school setting. For these youth, the home provides a structured school day based upon specialized one on one school curriculum, designed to re-interest youth in learning and help them develop the academic skills and discipline necessary to be successful in a community school setting. Covenant Children’s Home in connection with CCA provides an opportunity for the children to attend our onsite school, develop self-esteem, and experience trusting relationships with peers and adults. Our program focus is on enhancing each child’s ability to function successfully in society with attention to accountability and safety. It is our goal to help them develop into healthy individuals who will be the foundation of our thriving community.
Covenant Children’s Home is fortunate to have a strong, collaborative relationship with Covenant Christian Academy and our staff works diligently to ensure each child’s educational needs are being met. Most elementary and middle aged children who attended CCA show positive improvements in their emotional as well as educational levels. Additional support we offer includes:
- Tutoring and Homework Help – Through CCA, tutoring is provided for any child who needs educational assistance. This program includes both remedial services and assistance with grade-appropriate concepts. Tutors help clients fill in gaps often caused by frequent absenteeism and transferring of schools.
- Life Skills Training - CCH children are given the opportunity to learn valuable life skills that help them become more self-sufficient as they grow and mature. During their stay with us they learn about conflict resolution, self-respect, goal-setting, writing, interviewing, budgeting, banking, and more that allows for a smooth transition into the community.
The campus offers a safe, secure environment that allows our youth to relax and take time to cope with their circumstances and enjoy just being kids. Our children enjoy beautifully wooded acreage that offers nature trails, Withlacoochee River and Crystal River access, playgrounds, and a multipurpose sports field that is used for baseball, soccer, basketball, or football. Through strong community support, our youth also have opportunities to engage in various activities in the community. For example, children may desire to play on a sports team, pursue an art course, take music lessons, attend a local church youth group activity or enjoy summer camp. CCH supporters often pay for registration fees for these activities, as well as extend tickets to fun outings and enrichment events that our residents they may never experience otherwise. If you are interested in enabling our residents to participate in enrichment activities or would like to donate tickets/passes to local special events please contact us online.
